Tin Drum Ballot Box for Women

Both tin drums and wooden boxes were used in the 19th century and early 20th century for voters to cast their ballots in. In those states where women were granted limited voting rights there was a problem. How could women who had access to the polls be restricted from voting for those offices that they were not legally entitled to? The answer was to have two ballot boxes available, one for men and one for women. If any "illegal" ballots were to show up in the women's tin, they could easily be thrown out.
