Anna Bochenek’s work is an abstract composition based on horizontal divisions of the pictorial field with sparsely distributed irregular oval forms. Surfaces created out of these divisions are diversified in texture, either homogeneous or enriched with long or tiny brush strokes resembling cuts made by a chisel. The piece is painted in dark, balanced colour tones, in which deep, almost black greys are juxtaposed with colours of ochre and reddish browns, and emphasized by intense yellows, blues and greens. The horizontal divisions of the frame are not equal, but with gentle curves and look as if shaped by forces of nature. [F. Pregowski]
