As the age-old question of folklore goes: Does the duck not understand the sound of thunder, or does it not know fear? The inspiration for the TOGAN came on a whim, but regardless of how the question could be answered, the duck still appears unbothered and undisturbed. Such is the reason why Nguyen Khuyen once jokingly said in a line of poetry:
…Though its voice is small, its gut is anything but
Loud may be lightning and thunder, but unmoved is it still.
It is from this seeming uncaringness of the duck that TOGAN gets its name, but at the same time, it holds many different interpretations in the innumerable tongues of the world.
