These two skeletons of Coelophysis were among dozens excavated by Colbert and his team at Ghost Ranch. Why did they a big group of Coelophysis die and fossilize together? Colbert thought this population died during a flood, which carried the carcasses to a muddy pond, where the skeletons were quickly buried and the process of fossilization began.
