Toledo

On April 7, 1966, while traveling throughout Europe, Chihiro visited the city of Toledo in Spain, where she saw buildings dating back to the middle ages. Taking in the old stone structures, the ornamented balconies, the narrow and winding cobbled roads, Chihiro, in her letter to her family back home, wrote: “I have never seen such a wonderful place.” Looking at the sketches she quickly made at the time of the scenery and people she encountered, we are able to get an idea of what caught her attention and the types of scenes she was attracted to.
