Toledo

This view of Toledo is similar to others which Beulas did of different Castilian towns - preferably those which, because they were walled or had distinctive groups of buildings, possessed historic significance. However, far from trying to avail himself of these references, Beulas values above all the artistic opportunities, always in keeping with his well-defined aesthetic criteria. This view shows the Cubist roots that underlie his art, deriving from the line introduced into Spain by Vázquez-Díaz. All things considered, it is the colour and personal resolution of Beulas’s art that give this picture sense, setting it within this artist’s general style.
