An old hand coloured copper plate engraving, Indian bearers in loincloth are carrying the female attended by an umbrella carrier. The men took turns of two or four to carry the tonjan. British also described the Tonjan as a "hammock suspended on the dandee". Tonjon was like a sedan chair used for hill travelling.
