Surfboard shaper and competitive surfer Terry Fitzgerald was inspired by his early Hawaiian surfing experiences. From that point on his board designs always had speed as the essential design element, so his boards carried more drawn out lines and wings to help release water. Unique airbrushed designs were added to these speed machines most notably by Martyn Worthington making these surfboards functional art. This board features a long keel fin (another tilt at generating even more speed) and funky early Worthington dinosaur spray. Over time the colour and design of these boards, and the fact they recall a specific era of Australian surfing, have made Hot Buttered/Terry Fitzgerald surfboards highly desirable with collectors.
