Torah scroll and case from the Eliahou Hanavi synagogue, Alexandria, Egypt. The round wooden case is decorated with inlaid decoration of various woods, mother-of-pearl and ivory. The extended scroll rollers originally held a pair of rimonim (Torah finials; see no. C 1980.3.10.2). The scroll and case were presented by the Rolo family to the Alexandria synagogue. Robert J. Rolo served as the president of Alexandria's Jewish community between 1934 and 1948.
