Toshitoku Deity

The title of this painting “Toshitoku” is a god which controls the happiness of the year. It is generally depicted as a female god, but this painting depicts an old man with a long head. This work was painted by Tani Buncho when he was seventy-seven years old. He was an active painter in the late Edo period (19th century).
