Tourism Museum, room 38

The Tourism Museum is a collaborative, non-profit initiative dedicated to disseminating and celebrating the history of the global tourism sector. Unlike traditional museums, it functions as a "diffuse museum": it doesn't have a single main building, but rather its headquarters are the entire world. Its primary mission is to rescue historical objects from oblivion, such as old travel guides, pioneering brochures, posters, and hotel keys, to pay tribute to the people, companies, and destinations that laid the foundations of the travel industry.

Instead of conventional galleries, the project comprises more than a hundred physical rooms spread across various countries. These "rooms" are actually display cases and small exhibition spaces installed within establishments within the sector itself, such as hotel lobbies, travel agencies, tourist offices, or universities. Each room is curated and dedicated to a specific theme, generally closely linked to the tourism history of the city or institution hosting it.

Room 38 of the Tourism Museum, located in the Toy Museum of Albarracín in Teruel (Spain), is dedicated to exploring the curious and close relationship between antique toys and the world of tourism.
