St Mary's church, Edlesborough is mostly built from limestone, including the entrance and tower. The imposing tower was a 14th Century addition to this 13th Century church . The most striking feature of the church from this view, looking up the hill, is the castle like design of the wall. The regular, square edged gaps are known as 'crenellated battlements' and were used for decorative purposes in many late Medieval churches.
