This is among the last paintings completed by Egon Schiele before his death in October 1918. The composition is depicted from a bird's-eye-view and features a conglomeration of vividly painted houses stacked together as if blocks and nestled between a dense canopy of trees. One notable feature of this canvas compared to the artist's other landscapes is the inclusion of small figures bustling around the town. Schiele prominently signed and dated the work in the lower left corner.
