Model is horse #20 at 1:12 "Classics" scale representing "Misty of Chincoteague" as manufactured by Breyer Animal Creations beginning in 1972, the same year Misty died. This molded plastic toy is among the company's longest-running models. The horse is significant for being immortalized as the inspiration for Marguerite Henry's 1947 fictional book, "Misty of Chincoteague." The book is based upon real people, ponies, places and events; the real horse was a palomino pinto foaled July 20, 1946, on Chincoteague Island.

Model is primarily cream and tan colored, with cream covering most of face and continuing along spine down to the tail. Proper right eye surrounded by tan circle with left eye forming the border between cream face and tan body. Both ears are colored tan. Tan color continues down all four legs with prominent white area before hooves are reached. Horse has pinkish tint inside ears, and on its nose and hooves. Misty's face is turned to her right with the tail swishing in the same direction. She is stepping forward with her right front and back legs first. Full stomach area and majority of horse's sides are tan.
