In Mexico there is a wide variety of handmade toys. Toys that take us back to a pre-Hispanic and indigenous past, as well as to the Hispanic-Oriental influence left by colonization. Over the years, these toys still retain a colorful design that generates wonderful textures, these are not only achieved by the material used. Artisans build them with elements such as clay, cardboard, paper, wood, puff pastry, lacquer, lead, sugar, vegetable fibers and colors, etc. The techniques for its manufacture obey the specific characteristics of each object. The knowledge to do them is inherited from parents to children. They are ancestral pieces, not only in their production, but also because we acquire them from generation to generation. The Mexican handmade toy not only has recreational and cultural functionality, but also shows the identity of our country and is part of the wonderful Mexican art.
