Trackers by Sophocles

Michail Marmarinos returned to the Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus with Trackers, a fragmentary satyr play by Sophocles revealing how Music first reached human ears. Apollo’s Tracking Satyrs, promised gold and freedom, follow the sound of Hermes’ newly invented lyre to recover stolen cattle. Performed in a historic, verse translation, this rarely staged work offers a rare glimpse into the mythic origins of melody and its transformative power.
