Appearing here are two types of trade cards, a generic piece for the National Sewing Machine Company and a die-cut for Sapolio Soap. National Sewing imprinted its ad on the back of a card with a basic design that was sold to a number of different manufactures, all of whom had their own messages imprinted on it. The Sapolic card was one of a set of six similar items, the others not containing a suffrage allusion. This set was created exclusively for the company, with "Sapolio" incorporated into the design.
