Theodor Friedrich Wilhelm M??rklin, a German tinsmith, first began producing toys in 1859. He began with dollhouse furniture, and from these humble beginnings was born an enormous toy factory still in business today. Starting in 1925, Marklin and Co. became known for their production of realistic toys, especially railroad trains, and their name is still a byword for train collectors today.
