All of the telephones in the small series manufactured by J. W. Albert in Frankfurt are numbered—this transmitter bears the number 32 and the corresponding receiver has the number 33. How the distance between the membrane and contact is set is crucial for functionality. Reis always carried out this fine-tuning himself for all his telephones.
