The SST-1 Transmitter is a unit of the SSTR-1 "Suitcase Radio", a clandestine radio for use by OSS agents in WWII. The dimensions are such that the secretive radio could fit into a loaf of bread and makes it feasible to send and receive information quickly from within enemy territory.
