As I approached. 12th Sept 1981.;Notes provided by John Mercer June-July 2021: Nearing the situation I see the Red Squad officer continuing to strike Fran with his baton (hard work for such a big man). Similar action is occurring to the right of the image with friends trying to help/defend the people pressed up against the retaining wall. To the left on the raised front lawn of the adjoining property a protestor in a white helmet photographs a Red Squad officer. To his left is Wendy shouting to get the Red Squad officers to stop batoning Fran who is just visible at centre, obscured is Ineke who was shown running in to Fran's assistance in the previous frame. It appears that another Red Squad officer is striking at her.
