William Porden (1755-1822) was an eminent British architect of the Georgian era, known for designing the riding school and stables at the Brighton Pavilion. In 1816 he visited France with his daughter, poet Eleanor Anne Porden. Both he and his daughter kept journals of their travels.
As an architect, William Porden naturally visited and described the buildings he visited on his travels.
This image shows two pages of his journal with a description and drawings of the Cathedral Basilica of our Lady of Amiens.
