Yang Feiyun, born in 1954 in Baotou, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, now lives and works In Beijing. Yang graduated From the Department of Oil Painting at China Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1982, and in the same year he began to teach in the Department of Stage Design at the Central Academy of Drama. In 1984, he was transferred to teach In the Department of Oil Painting at China Central Academy of Fine Arts, where he now works as a professor. He is also Dean of the Chinese Academy of Oil Painting at the Chinese National Academy of Arts. Yang is regarded as one of the most important artists representing classical realism in Chinese oil painting.
