  • About the Artist: Although praised by some modern art historians as "the genius of painting through the ages", Su Renshan was not welcomed by his clansmen due to his eccentric personality. Yet such a personality also shaped his artistic style. He began his career by meticulously studying the woodblock-printed painting manuals because in his circumstances it was difficult to gain access to genuine works.
