The 32-latch lock on this chest is concealed inside the cover by a plate bearing a scene with a stag and a hare escaping from three dogs. The outside of the chest is decorated with fretwork plates with braiding and Arab-like motifs on the sides, and populated sprays with beaked heads on the lid. On the corner plates there are sheets held by tacks with engraved scrolls, small tendrils and Arab-like motifs. Traces of gilding still remain on the little pilasters along the chest, on the handles, on the fretwork panels, and on the castor feet. Five bearded heads with oriental headgear appear on the lid: the central one, which is movable, conceals the keyhole.
