This is a pack of trick playing cards. The card package writing says 'Queens Slipper Playing Cards'. The packet is navy blue and white, and contains 19 red and white cards with blank back sides which have been made by glueing two cards together. The pack also contains one card blank both sides and one with two cards stuck together with red and white one side and a blue and white on the other side. There is also one eight of diamonds with a red back and one small mirror cut to the size of the cards.
This item is part of a collection of magic paraphernalia in the State History’s collection which belonged to magician Harold John Watson. He was born on 20 March 1900 in Meadows. Besides his career as a school teacher in South Australia, he was fascinated by magic research and became a semi-professional magician. Known as The Wizard Watson he had his own branded props to entertain the audience with mystery and excitement in his shows.
