Towards the end of the 1940s Birolli alternated his activities in Milan and Paris with long stays on the Breton coast. It is in this period that the group of paintings entitled "Trinité sur Mer" (1947-1949), named after a seaside resort in the region of Brittany, where he elaborates in organic synthetic forms and colorful harbor scenes and elements related to sea life.
