This adornment is called a “tsa tsáp” and is a tail made of multi-coloured parrot feathers. The feathers have been tied in pairs on both sides of a cotton braid. It is usually used on feast days when large quantities of masato (chicha from yucca) are drunk. These iridescent feather tails are commonly found hanging from tawaás, a ribbon made of toucan feathers which are worn on the forehead.
