Tsaishi Gospel cover

This is book binding of Gospel. Front board depicts Harrowing of Hell. The central figure is Jesus Christ. Christ has grasped two figures and is pulling them from tombs. To the left we see three characters, who are already in heaven, they are surrounded by the nimbus, crown of light rays. Jesus Christ has to pull other two figures, who are still in hell. Big cross is visible above Christ’s head. Gospel is embellished with leafy floral ornaments.
