Tshibati Residence next to the National Park Kahuzi-Biega, PNKB (South-Kivu)

A villa from the colonial period, currently abandoned at the foot of the National Parc Kahuzi-Biega in Tshibati locality. Tshibati is a research station in the parc where we also can find the Tshibati Falls. This building served as an administrative residence for the staff of the parc and the research centre. Made of local materials, this building has not been subject to maintenance for a long time. Furthermore, due to decennia of war conflicts in the eastern of the Democratic Republic of Congo, several localities arround the Kahuzi-Biega parc have been abandoned as result of insecurity. Tshibati's residence also illustrates looting activities during the long war conflict in the eastern of the country . Proof of human presence is the abandoned vegetables with Colocasia plants in the garden.
