The tsuba is round in shape with ji sukashi (positive design openwork) and hira maru bori (round brass carving) in the form of a kakiwaki (paulownia tree). The surface is migaki ji (smooth) with kebori (line carving). At the center is the nakago-ana, an opening through which the sword passes, with sekigane (plugs added to fit the tsuba to a sword) made of shakudo (a soft copper and gold alloy). The mimi (outer rim) is maru (round).
