Performers play this double-headed tsuridaiko drum in gagaku court music to accompany instrumental pieces and small-scale dances. Instruments used in gagaku boast elaborate decoration. The heads of this tsuridaiko are brightly painted to depict a dragon on one side and a fowl on the other. The drum is suspended within a round lacquered frame. Gold-tipped flames rise from its top.
