Units of the Entente Powers that occupied İstanbul on 13 November, 1918 began departing the city in accordance with the Lausanne Peace Agreement following the War of Independence. The final enemy unit left the city with a ceremony organized in front of Dolmabahçe Palace on 2 October, 1923. The Turkish Army commanded by Selahattin Adil Pasha entered İstanbul on 6 October, 1923.
