In 1914 Taylor traveled to Japan where she studied the traditional woodblock-printing techniques of the Japanese masters. Though this print was created using the Provincetown white-line method, it reflects Taylor's assimilation of the Japanese aesthetic, including the flattened perspective, bold colors, and dynamic composition. Taylor's print also reflects a deep reverence for nature, a characteristic shared with the Japanese artists.
