During the conflict period that followed the Partition in 1947, villages that bordered onto Pakistan were frequently evacuated. People fled carrying their belongings to a safer place. During one such instance when the family had to relocate, one of the legs of this sandook broke and was later repaired by fixing a piece of wood in its place.
