Twin Vase with Floral Designs in Enamel - View 1

The lidded vase is designed as a conjoined set. This vase is exquisitely designed with an elegant shape. The two pieces mirror each other in their flaring mouth-rims, contracted necks, slanting shoulders, round bodies, and flaring ringed-feet. The knobs, the edges of the lids, and the mouth-rims are all painted in gold. The interior the conjoined vases and the ringed-feet are glazed in a light bluish-green. The conjoined vases are painted blue and purple. The two colors are interchanged at various segments, while a pattern of flowering foliage ornaments the entire piece. The floral design was created by a metal tool press-rolled on the glazed surface. The rolled designs have the effect of enameling on a copper cast. The underside bears a mark indicating the Qianlong reign as the period of production. The mark is completed in the seal script in a single line of blue—known as underglaze blue. The inscription is translated as "manufactured in the Qianlong reign, Qing dynasty” (Daqing Qianlong nianzhi).
