The field on the right looks like pieces of carpet cut into squares with distinct and separate boundaries. The field on the left, however, seems to be a completely different type of material, like a thick liquid. As this thick liquid spreads, it fades its boundaries and overtakes the white canvas. In other words, the field on the right shows the 3D illusion of an image going back to its origin of just a plain white canvas. On the contrary, the field on the left shows the process of the field growing, overtaking the white canvas.
