Two Forms with White (Greek) represents Hepworth’s long standing commitment to carving and ‘truth to materials’. In 1954 she had received 17 tons of Guarea, a tropical hardwood, from Nigeria and carved a series of large works named after ancient Greek sites and exploring the relationship of the human figure to the architecture and landscape of Greece.
