Tyne Bridge, Newcastle Upon Tyne

Designed by architect R Burns Dick and engineers Mott, Hay and Anderson, the Tyne Bridge was built between 1925 and 1928. This image shows the structure of the steel arch meeting the base of the concrete and granite towers. At the time of its construction it was the largest single-span steel arch bridge in Britain.
