Zambombas are one of the most unique Christmas celebrations that take place in some towns in Lower Andalusia, such as Jerez de la Frontera or Arcos de la Frontera, both in the province of Cádiz. The origins of this peculiar Christmas celebration lie in the gatherings that took place in the courtyards of neighbours' houses, where food, wine and songs were shared, the lyrics and rhythms of which became part of popular culture. In Jerez, however, the mixture of these beats had its own specific character in flamenco. This is why the zambomba of Jerez is now the hallmark of this land.
