Pahu. Drum. A hollow, cylindrical drum, carved from a single piece of ra'au (wood). The drum has a rounded base and horse-shoe shaped hollow 'ears' at either end. The wood is heavy and dense and medium in tone. It has a low polish. There is a small hole in the base where a tree knot has fallen loose.
