Václav Havel came from something of a filmmaking family. His uncle Miloš Havel (1899–1968), one of the founders of Czechoslovak cinematography, built the Barrandov film studios, while his grandfather Vácslav (1861–1921) built the Lucerna Palace, the location of Prague’s first large cinema.
