Jo Kanamori, a 21-year-old dancer with NDT 2, made the solo 'Under the Marron Tree' for the 1995 choreography workshop. In this ballet, Kanamori created a tense atmosphere of insecurities and sorrow, which set the stage for a wounded woman trying to get her life together. ‘Under the Marron Tree’ was put on the NDT 2 repertoire a year later, and performed in the 'Volubis' programme in 1997.
