The 1937 Coronation of King George VI was the first coronation in which the organisation played a major role in the planning and delivery of a significant national event. The planning detail put into the transport arrangements for the 1937 coronation provided a blueprint for the even larger preparations that were to occur for the 1953 coronation. Not least among these was the all night running of tube services from select stations. This map shows that planning, the first time that the underground had run all night in its history.
