Artwork created by Prateeti Verma for #UndertheHijab
Artist statement: "A woman modestly dressed is as a pearl in its shell. Hijab also includes the way a person walk, talks, looks and thinks, all of it should be done modestly and applies to both men and women. Hijab – because you’re worth it."
#UnderTheHijab is an artists’ collective that aims to break the stereotypes related to those who wear a Hijab. The series was inspired by the story of a young Syrian girl, Sarah, who was called a terrorist for wearing a hijab. Moved and provoked by Sarah’s story the founder of Project FUEL, Deepak Ramola, curated a series of artworks using the hashtag #UnderTheHijab.
