The book "Accurate Vorstellung der Königlich Pohlnischen Armee nach der auf dem in Jahre 1775 gehaltenen Reichstage festgesetzen Stärke und Uniform.. = Etat Actuel De L’Armee De Sa Majeste Le Roi De Pologne ainsi qu’il a été stipulé à la Diéte tenue en 1775 où l’on trouve La Force Et L’Uniforme.." is the most excellent source for research into the uniforms of the Republic of Poland armies during the reign of King Stanislaus August Poniatowski (1764–1795). This work is the first study showing the military uniforms and equipment used in Poland after the army reform in 1775. The detailed, colourful copperplate illustrations included in the book are now one of the few sources for research into military costume design, phaleristics and the organisation of the armies of the Crown and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania before the Second Partition of Poland (1793). Militaria experts can find here several old and new elements of the army’s equipment, which were supposed to complement one another in the mission to secure the existence of the Republic of Poland threatened by its neighbours. In the second part of the book the illustrations are provided with a detailed description divided by the publisher into individual formations. Because of its uniqueness this work, originally published in parallel in German and French, was also recently translated into English ("The Polish Army in 1775", Point Pleasant NJ: 2013).
