The Washington Heights movie theatre from 1930, originally called Loew's 175th Street Theatre, remained unused for over 40 years and was brought to life with the fundraising campaign "The Return of Film to The Palace", inspired and hosted by Lin-Manuel Miranda. He selected six classic New York City films that played from January through June of 2014, hosting the screenings for special guests. It was subsequently renamed to the United Palace of Cultural Arts, and Lin-Manuel was presented with a framed commemoration of the original building for his work in helping save the iconic Upper Manhattan venue.
