This American military button comes from a uniform that belonged to a member of the United States 3rd Regiment of Artillery, circa 1812. It is identifiable by the elaborate letter A in script with the number 3 in a cartouche below it. The button was recovered by TMHC from Lot 54 in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, also called the Cassady site, in 2015. This artifact establishes the site’s connection to the War of 1812, as it was likely deposited when the area was occupied for approximately eight months by American forces.
