Born in 1979 in Ankara, Burcu Perçin graduated from Mimar Sinan University, Department of Painting in 2002. Often fixing the diversity of materials in her paintings with oil on canvas, the artist treats of forgotten, unfrequented industrial sites. In her earlier works she also included objects and figures in her compositions. Perçin depicts abandoned industrial sites through the vigorous brushstrokes she always uses. Industrial areas, factories, warehouses, train stations, overpasses, ordinary places where waste is collected, all become undefined landscapes for these paintings. The quick, dynamic brushstrokes which emphasize the ups and downs throughout the work make all the paintings look almost as if they were moving. The huge buildings in ruin, which seem to sway right and left, enable us to focus on the industrialized city.
