Chen Boxi was born in 1922 in Weifang, Shandong Province. He entered the Department of Fine Arts of Lu Xun Art College in 1939. Later, he worked in the army in fine arts. He was successively the editor-in-chief of the People's Army Pictorial, the Secretary of the Secretariat of Northwest Artists Association, the director of Gansu Art Studio, the editor-in-chief of Gansu Pictorial and the chairman of Gansu Branch of China Artists Association. He is now vice chairman and consultant of Gansu Provincial Literary Union as well as national-level artist that enjoys the special contribution allowance of the State Council. He is good at printmaking, Chinese painting, calligraphy and seal cutting. Many of his works have been collected by the Great Hall of the People, Zhongnanhai and Chairman Mao Memorial Hall. The artist has been included in the Artist's Famous Almanac and the World Celebrity Dictionary, etc. His representative works include "Warfare on Wazi Street", "Liberation of Lanzhou", "Customs Control" and "Defending Yan'an" (group painting). Published "Chen Boxi's Collection of Calligraphy and Paintings" and so on.
